(IDEA Lab Scheme)
(Grant for Organising Conference – GOC)
(MODROBS – Modernisation and Removal of Obsolescence)
(Margdarshan Scheme)

Summary of AICTE Institutional Schemes 2026-27
| Scheme Name | Primary Objective | Target Group |
|---|---|---|
| IDEA Lab | Promote hands-on STEM learning and product prototyping | Engineering and Technical Students |
| Grant for Organising Conference (GOC) | Financial assistance for national and international conferences | Faculties, Researchers, and Academicians |
| MODROBS Scheme | Upgrade outdated equipment in labs and workshops | Technical Laboratories and Computing Hubs |
| Margdarshan Scheme | Institutional mentorship by top-performing institutes | Developing Technical Colleges |
1. IDEA Lab Scheme
The IDEA Lab scheme focuses on shifting classroom teaching toward practical, project-based learning. Operating on the core principle of ‘learning by doing’, the scheme empowers students to apply Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) concepts to build working prototypes and address real-world industrial challenges.
2. Grant for Organising Conference (GOC)
Under the GOC scheme, AICTE offers financial aid to eligible technical institutions to organize national and international conferences. This platform allows academicians, industry experts, and research scholars to share research findings, discuss emerging technological trends, and form collaborative research networks.
3. MODROBS Scheme
The Modernisation and Removal of Obsolescence (MODROBS) scheme targets the physical and technical infrastructure of institutions. Funding provided under MODROBS enables colleges to replace obsolete lab machinery, upgrade computational facilities, and equip workshops with contemporary industrial equipment.
4. Margdarshan Scheme
The Margdarshan initiative connects well-established, high-performing institutes with developing colleges to provide structured academic mentorship. Mentoring institutions share best teaching practices, facilitate resource access, and assist in enhancing overall academic standards.
Institutional Eligibility and Application Procedure
Only AICTE-approved technical institutions are eligible to apply for funding under these four schemes. Institutions must submit detailed project proposals through the official AICTE web portal. Proposals will be evaluated by an expert committee based on technical merit, faculty strength, institutional readiness, and projected outcome metrics.
